Meet the Main Tap Tavern Crew

Mike:
Mike has been our longest running bartender here at Main Tap Tavern; he is even one of the first 10 VIPS. He got out of the Marine Corps in 2006 & has been bartending ever since. He has worked a fine dining steak house, nightclubs downtown, was an instructor at a bartending school, the lead bartender at the V lounge in Viejas Casino, & learned his Craft Beer knowledge from working at the famous Liars Club. With Mike‘s animated personality & efficient bartending skills, you are sure to have a great time whenever he is working. Mike is a huge fan of West Coast IPAs & has a special place in his heart for Sour Beer. Tell him what you are in the mood to drink & he will find the perfect beer or cocktail for you. His favorite breweries are: Alpine Brewing, Russian River & Dogfish Head.

Wes:

Wes McCann has been home brewing since 1994, brewing professionally since 2008, and will be opening Devil‘s Forge Brewing Company in San Diego in the not too distant future. His love of craft beer began when he tasted his first Pete‘s Wicked Ale, realizing that there was much more to beer than just “less filling“ beer without any “great taste“. He has enjoyed working in great craft beer breweries and bars in Georgia, Rhode Island, Colorado and now at Main Tap Tavern.

Josh:
Josh started his passion for craft beer early with the common ‘gateway‘ beers of Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams & Colt 45. But quickly discovered Karl Strauss, Stone, and Ballast Point; Green Flash locally, Moylan‘s & Lagunitas shortly after. Having developed a taste for the craft before, helping start The Regal Beagle was a recipe for a passion in the industry. Things fell into place when Main Tap Tavern was looking for a Draft Manager and Josh‘s availability was open. Here at Main Tap Tavern Josh has a main goal of getting the best beer we can get our hands on, & to get a wide variety of local, national & world wide brews on draft and cask. The love of craft beer has led to a Home Brewing hobby with hopes to someday brew a production beer for you all to enjoy. Josh would say, “My life doesn‘t revolve around beer; it evolves into the love of the craft & the brew“.

Heather:

Heather is one of our part time IT support & weekend bartender. She has been expanding her knowledge of beers one glass at a time, & by visiting many local breweries. Some of her favorites include, but not limited to; Cascade Brewing, Deschutes, Alpine Brewing & Mother Earth. She is hoping to take a try at making her own homebrew this year. We all can‘t wait to try it out!

Alex:

Alex is a California native but grew up in a military family, enabling him to move cross country several times. He discovered his love for Craft Beer while living in Virginia, falling in love with many of the Ales & Lagers on the East Coast. After relocating back to California after several years, he was exposed to the land of hops that propagate many of the West Coast Beers we have out here, & true love blossomed. A self proclaimed beer nerd, Alex is a Certified Beer Server through the Cicerone Certification Program, with hopes of attaining his Certified Cicerone title very soon.

Alan:

Alan believes in supporting local breweries. He believes that Main Tap Tavern has the ability to help you experience many of the local brews from around the county. Come join us and allow him, as one of our great bouncers; help make your visit a pleasure by providing a safe and friendly environment.

Jason:

Jason loves good beer, good music & good people…& also loves lamp. He has been a door guy here at Main Tap Tavern for almost a year now, but Main Tap has been his bar since the day they opened the doors. He plays guitar in the local San Diego metal band “AGHORI“ (which should be said with a deep growl in your voice). They don‘t always play local shows, but when they do, they‘re usually here. He‘s always open to talk movies, TV, music, art, beer or movies, as long as it doesn‘t distract him from his work. So come hang out! He is lookin‘ forward to seeing all of you out here soon for some good times & a stomach full of the tastiest beer around!

Angela:

Angela is a native San Diegan, who just found her home at Main Tap Tavern. She fell in love of Craft Beers in the late 90s when she was roommates with a local Lost Abbey‘s Tomme Arthur. Trained in hospitality & customer service, Angela strides to make you feel at home, & part of the family when are at here at the tavern. When she off, you can catch her sippin‘ on a Maui Coconut Porter & enjoying the great outdoors!

Steven:

Born & raised in San Diego, Steven first started coming to the bar as a customer about 4 years ago. He loved to try all the different beers out there, & so far his favorite breweries have been, Belching Beaver, Mother Earth, Big Sky & Shipyard. He currently works Saturday nights as he works with the USPS Monday thru Saturday mornings. He states that it is always a great time for him when he comes to bartender at Main Tap Tavern.

Kenny was our first hire here at the Tavern over 5 years ago! With some time away working on his Real Estate Appraisal company, he is now back in action here at the tavern.

Citra:

Citra is in charge of our food waste management & greeting new comers here at the tavern. She may be skittish but food is the key to her approval! When She is not feeling so hot, she highly recommends the staff and accommodations at Ranch San Diego Animal Hospital.
